Composition

Properties

  • TANTUM VERDE P is a topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with an analgesic action used as a lozenge for the relief of painful inflammatory conditions of the mouth and throat.
  •  TANTUM VERDE P is effective in mucositis and is used locally for the management of mouth ulcers. 
  • TANTUM VERDE P is a highly effective preparation for the treatment of inflammatory affections of the oral cavity and pharyngeal cavity.

Pharmacology

Mechanism of Action: Local anesthetic & anti-inflammatory; reduces pain an inflammation.

Pharmacokinetics:

  • Absorption: Absorbed through oral mucosa during oral rinse.
  • Excretion: Urine

Indications

  •  Sore throat and hoarse throat .
  •  Prophylaxis of cold . 
  •  Inflammatory affections of the oral cavity and pharyngeal cavity such as; gingivitis, inflammations of oral and pharyngeal mucous membrane, laryngitis, tonsillitis and stomatomycosis .
  •   For preparatory and follow-up treatment in case of surgical interventions; in the oral and pharyngeal cavities (dental operations, maxillary surgery and tonsillectomies.
  • Anti-inflammatory and analgesic treatment in throat, mouth and gums inflammations.
  • Before and after extraction of teeth.
  • Mouth ulcers.

Dosage & Administration 

  • Unless otherwise prescribed by the physician, let one lozenge dissolve slowly in the mouth or sublingually 3-4 times a day; do not swallow whole nor chew. 

Contraindications

  • TANTUM VERDE P should not be taken in case of  Patients with phenylketonuria. 
  • A known hypersensitivity to the product.

Undesirable Effects

  • Numbness or stinging sensations of the oral mucosa.

Warnings and Precautions

  • The use of the product, especially when prolonged, could originate sensitization phenomena. In this case, the treatment must be discontinued.

Who should not take TANTUM VERDE P Lozenges?

TANTUM VERDE P Lozenges can be used by most people. However they are not suitable for:

  • children under 10 years of age
  • people with a known allergy or intolerance to any ingredient of the lozenges, which includes glucose and sucrose.
  • If you have diabetes take note of the sugar content of the lozenges.

Can I use TANTUM VERDE P Lozenges while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Check with your doctor first. The lozenges are unlikely to be harmful if used during pregnancy or breastfeeding but should only be used if your doctor says it’s OK.

How do I take TANTUM VERDE P Lozenges?

  • Adults and children over 10 years of age should suck one lozenge every two to three hours as needed. Do not take more than eight lozenges in 24 hours.
  • If your symptoms haven’t improved after three days or get worse, see your doctor or pharmacist.
